It’s been a minute!

Like all of us navigating the pandemic, I’ve been navigating a new and more restricted world. I understand how important it is for each of us to contribute to the defeat of this virus in our midst, so that we can all re-emerge into a world that celebrates hospitality and sharing, togetherness, and travel.

It has been hard not being able to put my feet down on the grounds of Maison, to see, hear, and feel the vistas, birdsong, breezes and mists of St.-Yzans, to run to Sophie's for essentials, to be part of the harvest, to hug my friend Corinne, to dip a toe in at the wine estates and markets, to convene in Bordeaux and check in at the museums and other favorite haunts.

You have your own supply of wistfulness, I know. But we’re going to come out the other side and here’s what I’m hoping we will all be able to enjoy in the near future:

• A renewed emphasis on the importance of the common good
• A renewed embrace of personal inconvenience when it matters most to general welfare
• A renewed concern for the wellbeing of everyone we come into contact with, no matter how casually
• A Cave Saint-Brice toast between friends in the Maison garden on a mellow evening
